The summer season has arrived at Leisure Knoll! The pool is open as well as our new Sports Court. The Sports Court includes a tennis court, putting green, and 3 pickle ball courts which can be adjusted for both Badminton and Volley Ball. The Court will be locked for security, however it is open to all residents. The combination to the lock can be found in the Billiard Room Closet or by calling the office. Please note that residents must bring their own equipment. The storage cabinets are for use by the tennis and pickle ball clubs only. We currently do not have a badminton club but look forward to one in the future.

The Entertainment committee will be hosting Adult Game Nights on Thursdays starting July 11th at 7:00 pm. It will include corn hole, horseshoes, shuffleboard, bocce, as well as giant Jenga and Connect Four.

They will also host Pool nights on Friday starting July 12th. There will be music and volleyball. Bring your own snacks and drinks (no glass please). Come on down and have some fun with your neighbors!

Both activities will be subject to weather conditions.

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND

There have been several questions regarding our no solicitation policy. There is a distinction between commercial solicitation and political and religious protected speech which is clarified below:

For many years, the entrances to Leisure Knoll have posted a No Soliciting sign. Please be advised that this sign is a deterrent for COMMERCIAL SOLICITING. Political and religious door to door knocking are settled law, protected speech under First Amendment to the US Constitution and the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Additionally, petitioning is required for residents who have not previously run and wish to run in an election for the board of directors as outlined in our Bylaws on page 18, paragraph B. Petitioning for those running for ANY office (school board, library board, fire departments, local, state and federal office, etc.) is considered non commercial freedom of speech and constitutionally protected speech.

If you do not want a person to return to your door, LKA recommends that you calmly ask the person to not knock on your door again. That person is required to honor your wishes.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The LKA Board of Directors Election is fast approaching. The board has voted to hire a third party, Honest Ballot Company, to handle the election this year. Information will be mailed out to all homeowners at the end of June. It will include the process to follow for anyone who is interested in running for a position on the board. Additionally, another mailing will be sent in the first week of August with detailed voting instructions.

When we Honor our flag, we honor what we stand for as a nation – freedom, equality, justice, and hope.
