REMINDERS

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED

LKA Garden Club volunteers not only plant flowers around the Recreation, Craft Center and pool, they also maintain them throughout the growing season. If you have a green thumb or you just enjoy the flowers, why not consider volunteering for the Garden Club? If you are interested, please contact Peggy Januszkiewicz at 631-772-8379.

LKA Entertainment Committee is also looking for volunteers to run Thursday Game Nights and Friday Pool Nights this summer. These nights are a great way to get out and have some fun with your neighbors. We need volunteers to set up before and clean up after as well as keep things running smoothly during the evening. If you are interested, please call the office.

No planters or bird feeders are to be placed on the grounds so that it does not interfere with the landscapers mowing of lawns.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The 2025/2026 budget has been approved by the Board. The new HOA dues will be $400.00. Further discussion will be held at the Budget meeting on Tuesday, July 22nd.

LKA ELECTIONS
Preparations for the LKA Board of Directors Elections have begun. This year, we have once again voted to hire an outside company, Honest Ballot Company, to run the election. Information will be mailed out to all homeowners at the end of June. It will include the process to follow for anyone who is interested in running for the Board. In addition, another mailing will be sent in the first week of August with detailed voting instructions.

LKA SECURITY
Over the last few months, a number of incidents have come to the attention of the Board involving nonresidents gaining access to the community when they seem to have no legitimate reason to be here. Many of these incidents have occurred at night. Luckily, so far, there have been no reports of harm to any of our residents or their property, however, these incidents are at the very least disturbing.

This led the Board to investigate ways to increase the security of our community. As you can imagine, there are many ways to go about it. In addition to the effectiveness of the security measures, some of the points we had to consider were the cost, the inconvenience to residents and the ease of use of any system we put in place. After careful consideration the Board voted to contract with IAL Total Security to install a new FOB system for building access and a phone/intercom integration at the Sheffield Gate between the hours of 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.

To access the community overnight, once the Sheffield Gate is closed, residents have 3 options; continue to use the tag on your car or use the new FOB that you will be issued or unlock the gate with your cell phone.

A visitor or delivery person needing access while the gates are closed will call the resident from the gate by using a touch screen, the resident will then be able to give them access without giving out a code.

Each registered resident will be issued a FOB which will replace the 4-digit code that residents need to gain entry to the Recreation and Craft Centers as well as the Pool. Please bring the attached information sheet with your name and three phone numbers that you wish to be added to the call list. A drivers license or ID card with your address for each registered member must be brought to the Rec Center when you pick up your FOBS.

Detailed instructions will be given to each resident as they are issued their FOB. We have arranged 3 sessions to distribute FOBS, you do not need to register in advance to attend a session. If you are not able to attend any of these sessions you may come to the administration office after these sessions are complete or call the office to make arrangements for you to receive your FOB and instructions. We anticipate the new system to go into effect in mid August and will notify you of the actual GO LIVE DATE once It is finalized. The sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday, June 5th – 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Rec Center
  • Saturday, June 7th – 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Rec Center
  • Wednesday, June 11th – 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Rec Center

We are also adding more security to the LKA website. Going forward, certain sections of the website that contain information that is meant for residents only will be password protected. This includes meeting minutes, and we hope to post video recordings of our community meetings on our website very soon.

We realize that change can be difficult, but the Board believes that these changes are necessary to keep up with a changing world. We thank you in advance for your cooperations.
